Los Angeles Dodgers to Give Away Player Crypto Tokens Through ETH

Professional baseball squad Los Angeles Dodgers would be staging a giveaway of crypto-based athlete tokens by the end of September.

This is according to a press release on Dodger Insider.

The statement conveyed that Dodger fans would be able to get tokens — representing Dodgers players — convertible to Ethereum (ETH) during the game versus the San Diego Padres slated on September 21.

During the event dubbed as the “Digital Bobblehead Night,” guests would be able to download tokens of athletes such as pitcher Clayton Kershaw, third baseman Justin Turner, and Curaçaoan pitcher Kenley Jansen.

The statement went on to explain that the tokens would be distributed according to the point of entry, with first 40,000 ticketed fans in attendance set to receive a card with a unique code that could be unblocked and moved to an Ethereum wallet. The character crypto tokens would be selected randomly, with an estimated equal share of Kershaw, Turner, and Jansen codes.

Dodgers’ CMO and Executive Vice President Lon Rosen said that the “first-ever [c]rypto giveaway” in sports would allow them to “explore an entirely new marketplace with our fanbase,” as well as to “pique interest” of Dodger fans and “launch a new age of digital collectibles and promotions.”
