Brief Introduction

My name is Valentijn (van den Hout), I am a 23-year old living in The Netherlands. I have finished a BSc in Liberal Arts & Sciences (major in Business & Management) which I have followed with a MSc in Strategic Management (Consultancy track), both at Tilburg University.
In between these studies, and continuing since, I taught myself front-end programming (in specific HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery) and a bit of back-end programming (PHP, SQL), which I used to spin up some startup projects. Half-way through my master I started my own (“proper”) startup named Courseroot (courseroot.com), and am still working on this at the moment (in short, Courseroot is a search engine for online courses that allows students to filter through over 80.000 online courses from the biggest platforms on the web). This is where I also got to implement my development skills properly, and improve along the way, also broadening my skill set with digital marketing, SEO, UX design, and so forth.

 

Right now, I am looking to dive in and narrow down on Blockchain technology, hoping that I can be of value in this amazing industry by combining blockchain expertise with my background in business ??.

I’ll round off this first post. Just a quick disclaimer by the way: I am a terrible writer and am hoping to improve as these posts come along. Bear with me. ?

 

The plan for the upcoming days is to brush up on some much needed fundamentals like

• object-oriented programming,
• setting up servers, and
• working with node.js.

Also, the initial week or two I will be taking courses on cryptography (this Coursera course) and game theory, just to broaden up on general blockchain knowledge.
